BishopThis Cookie Policy explains how Nexno Lextech Private Limited (CIN U85307PN2023PTC221261), which operates the Bishop product (“Bishop”, “we”, “us” or “our”), uses cookies and similar technologies on bishop.work and within the Bishop application (together, the “Service”). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
Section 6 of this Policy explains how the Bishop browser extension stores data on your device. That storage is not a cookie and works differently, so it is dealt with separately.
1. What cookies are#
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They let the site recognise your device, remember your preferences, keep you signed in, and understand how the site is used. We also use similar technologies such as local storage, pixels and software development kits, which we refer to collectively as “cookies” in this Policy.
Cookies may be set by us (first party cookies) or by a third party whose service we use (third party cookies). They may last only for your session (session cookies) or remain until they expire or are deleted (persistent cookies).
2. Why we use cookies#
We use cookies to:
- Operate the Service and keep it secure.
- Keep you signed in and remember your settings.
- Understand how the Service is used so we can improve it.
- Measure the performance of our Website and, where you consent, our marketing.
3. Categories of cookies we use#
3.1 Strictly necessary cookies#
These are required for the Service to function, including authentication, session management, load balancing and security. The Service cannot work properly without them, so they do not require consent.
3.2 Functional cookies#
These remember your preferences and choices, such as language and display settings, to give you a better experience. We use these where permitted, and where required, with your consent.
3.3 Analytics and performance cookies#
These help us understand how visitors and users interact with the Service, such as which pages are visited and where errors occur, so we can improve it. We use these with your consent where required.
3.4 Marketing cookies#
These are used to measure the effectiveness of our marketing and, where applicable, to show relevant content. We set these only with your consent.
A current and detailed list of the specific cookies we use, their providers, purpose and duration, is available in the cookie preference tool, which you can open at any time from the cookie preferences link in the Website footer.
4. Third party cookies#
Some cookies are set by third parties that provide services to us, such as analytics, error monitoring and infrastructure providers. We currently use:
- Product and Website analytics: Google Analytics, PostHog
- Error monitoring and performance: PostHog
Where we add a provider, it will be reflected in the cookie preference tool.
These providers process information in accordance with their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.
5. Your choices and managing cookies#
Where required by law, we ask for your consent before placing non essential cookies, through a cookie banner or preference tool when you first visit. You can change your choices at any time through the cookie preferences link in the footer.
You can also control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them. Most browsers let you refuse cookies or alert you when a cookie is being set. If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the Service may not function correctly.

6. Storage used by the Bishop browser extension#
The Bishop browser extension for Google Chrome and other Chromium based browsers does not set cookies on the websites you visit, and it does not read the cookies, local storage or session storage of those websites.
The extension does use local browser storage on your own device, for three things only:
- Your Bishop connection status and authentication token.
- Your capture configuration, including your block list and allow list.
- A short lived queue of captured activity awaiting transmission to Bishop, so that activity is not lost if your connection drops.
This storage sits on your device. It is cleared when you sign out or uninstall the extension. It is not used for analytics, profiling or advertising. What the extension collects, and what it does not, is set out in full in Sections 5.3 and 6 of the Privacy Policy.
7. Do Not Track and global privacy signals#
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” signal or a similar global privacy control. There is no common industry standard for responding to these signals. We currently respond to them as described in our cookie preference tool, and we will update this Section if standards or our practices change.
8. Changes to this Policy#
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where required, ask for fresh consent. Please check back periodically.
